The Nasarawa State Ministry of Water Resources has reported that work on the Doma water scheme has been completed.
The Commissioner, who disclosed this yesterday in Lafia, said work on the project was done according to specification, noting that the people of the town were already enjoying potable water.
The rehabilitation of the Doma water works was among those whose contracts were awarded at an elaborate ceremony by the state government late last year. Others were those of Keana, Nasarawa Eggon, Lafia and the designing of the Nasarawa town water works.
The Doma water supply scheme which was commissioned in 1995, supplies water to limited parts of the town due to low capacity utilization of the plant and inadequate distribution network.
The main job carried out, according to the MINISTRY, were replacement of dilapidated equipment, overhauling of high lift pumps, refurbishing of treatment galleries and extension of distribution network as well as procurement of additional 1000KVA generator.
He said the supply had been raised from 1.5 million gallons a day to the designed supply level of 3 million gallons per day.
He said work on the Lafia water works was progressing satisfactorily and will soon be completed.
