Christian youths in Nasarawa State have been urged to follow the example of Jesus Christ by living a humble, meek and sacrificial life in all their endeavours. The charge was given this Sunday by Evangelist Henry Okereke at a valedictory service in honour of graduating students of the Chapel of Redemption, College of Education, Akwanga.

Speaking under the theme – I Bear the Mark of Christ, - Evangelist Okereke admonished the graduating students to make the fear of God their watch word in whatever they do in life after they leave the College in a few weeks. The fear of God, according to the Evangelist, presupposes that they must allow God have pre-eminence in whatever decisions they took, including places of work and abode, henceforth. Through this he said, they would have honour, prosperity and long life.

Reading from the book Philippians 2:5-11, Evangelist Okereke said young men and women will only prosper in life if they diligently followed the footsteps and example of Jesus by taking on themselves the mark of discipline, sacrifice, forgiveness and subjugating the flesh at all times.

Also speaking at the ceremony, the Chaplin of the Chapel of Redemption, College of Education, Akwanga, Rev. Emmanuel Muazu Jibrin reminded the final year students that their time in the Chapel was meant to be a training ground for them to go into the larger society as ministers of the Word of God. Rev. Jibrin therefore told them not to forget all they have been taught while they were in the College.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Chapel, Timothy Afolayan and Secretary, Audu Mangut informed the Church that 362 final year students were being commissioned into the Ministry from the chapel for the 2009 academic session.

Responding on behalf of the final year students, the President of the Fellowship, Moses Ashikeni promised to always live a life that will be an inspiration to other. He thanked the Chapel for instructing them on the path of righteousness promising to uphold the virtues and good name of the Chapel at all times.
