Resplendent, glittering, well attired and joyous are what describes the celebration of the eid-el-fitr in Nasarawa state today. Throughout the state, people filed out in their numbers to celebrate the end of the Ramadan fast with prayers and supplications to Almighty Allah.

In Doma where Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma joined thousands of faithful to mark the occasion, the prayers were led by the Chief Imam of Doma and attended by the Andoma of Doma, the traditional ruler of the town.

In a message to mark the occasion, Governor Akwe Doma congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast. The Governor said the month of Ramadan was a time for spiritual renewal, self denial and rekindled love and affection for mankind. Therefore as he called on all Nigerians to continue to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and love which are the teachings of Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W).

He further urged Muslims to remain steadfast in their public and private lives in accordance with the tenets of the religion adding that Islam was a religion of light, peace and truth.

Two days of public holidays have been declared throughout the country to mark the occasion.
