Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma of Nasarawa State has been described as an honest, prudent, selfless leader and a model for others to emulate.

The chairman of Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Barrister Mohammed Sani Bawa, made the remark while flagging -off the 2 kilometre Oversea-Majawal road construction work in Nasarawa town last week.

Barrister Bawa noted that though there were no elected councils officials in place between May 29, 2007 when Governor Doma assumed office and November 1, 2008 when elections were conducted at the local level, the governor has kept intact the monies from the federation account meant for the 13 local government areas of the state.

Continuing, he expressed his gratitude to the state government for commencing the release of the accumulated funds to all the local government councils in the state for the execution of development projects.

While expressing his optimism that the state government’s action would translate into even development across the state, he called on the entire people of the state to rally round the Governor Aliyu Akwe- led administration in its bid to take the state to the next level of development.

The Nassarawa local government chairman assured the people of his council that his administration would use the local government accumulated funds being disbursed by the state government to improve their well-being.

Barrister Bawa particularly assured farmers in the area that plans were in top gear to provide them with tractors on hire purchase basis this cropping season so as to boost their production.

He said his administration has so far achieved a lot in the areas of healthcare delivery, education, water supply among others.

Dignitaries from the area who graced the occasion included the Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Ahmed Musa Mohammed, senator Abubakar Danso Sodangi and commissioner of education, Alhaji Yusuf Loko among others.
