People of Nasarawa Eggon town of Nasarawa state would henceforth enjoy uninterrupted power supply.

This is because the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) has installed a new transformer in the town to provide electricity to the people.

The installation of the transformer was a result of the effort of the minority leader in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Mrs. Mary Enwongulu, who is representing Nasarawa Eggon West constituency.

Speaking to journalists at the venue of the installation of the transformer, the minority leader, Mrs Enwongulu said she decided to talk to the authorities of Power Holding Company (PHCN) to install a transformer in Nasarawa Eggon town because of the frequent power outage in the area.

She said there was a time the town experienced total blackout for about three months.

The minority leader said lack of light in the town had paralysed economic activities in the area, and that prompted her to take quick action.

According to her, people have been over loading the transformer which resulted in its stoppage severally, pointing out that the frequent repairs of the transformer had crippled it, and as such there was the need for a new transformer.

Also speaking to journalists, the engineer that installed the new transformer, Engineer Innocent Emachi said the old transformer was taken to Abuja, stressing that the new one that was installed would serve the people of Nasarawa Eggon town adequately, in terms of electricity generation.

Engineer Emachi them called on the people of the town to give staff of PHCN all the necessary cooperation so that they could continue to enjoy the services of the company.

Some residents of Nasarawa Eggon town interviewed by our reporter expressed happiness for the installation of the new transformer.

They said the new transformer would go a long way in alleviating the problem of light being experienced by the people of the area.

They thanked the minority leader, Mrs Enwongulu for ensuring that a new transformer was installed in the area to alleviate the problem of power outage.
