Andoma of Doma, Alhaji Abdullahi Onawo Ogah has called on the people of Doma to turn out en-mass to celebrate the forth coming Odu Festival scheduled to hold next week.

The paramount ruler also enjoined the people of Doma to use the occasion to form a dependable and stronger unity among the people and also to ensure that they work for a better future for the area.

Alhaji Ogah who was speaking to journalists in his palace in Doma said the Odu Festival was an annual merriment event for the people of Doma.

According to him, the Odu Festival was also meant to give gratitude to God for protecting the people of Doma from all forms of calamity.

Baring his mind on the constitutional role to be given to traditional rulers in the proposed constitutional review, the paramount ruler said traditional rulers were indispensable in Nigeria in the context of the natural role God has imposed on them, adding that traditional rulers are responsible to the people, feel for the people and are always there for the people.

He said nobody in this country was closer to the people at the grassroots as the traditional rulers.

The paramount ruler observed that constitutional role for the traditional rulers was only the recognition of the existing responsibilities that have been performed over time by the traditional rulers.

On the assessment of Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma’s administration he said the governor has been doing his best.

He said the governor has been constructing roads across the state, and also providing portable drinking water to the people.

The paramount ruler hoped that God would guide the government to do better than it has been doing for the people of Nasarawa state.
