NUJ gets new financial sec

Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ) Nasarawa State chapter, has elected a new financial secretary to fill in the vacant position in the union.
The election which was held recently at NUJ Press Center Lafia, had Mrs. Juliana Ofoku of Ministry of Information returned unopposed.
Speaking shortly, after the swearing-in of the new official, the Chairman of NUJ, Nasarawa State Chapter, Mallam Rayyanu Bala, urged Mrs. Ofoku to discharge her duties diligently with all sense of responsibility and commitment.
Mallam Bala said, the NUJ in the state was delighted that a female was elected as financial secretary adding that it was a proof that the union was gender sensitive in the running of its affairs.
He also said it was a challenge to other female members of the union to also come out and vie for positions so that the union would carry all along.
In her remarks the newly elected financial secretary, Mrs. Juliana Ofoku expressed appreciation to all members of Nasarawa State NUJ for the confidence reposed on her.
Mrs. Ofoku said "she would strive as much as possible to justify such confidence by discharging her duties without fear or favour."
She assured that she would do everything possible to improve the welfare of journalists in the state.
