An Islamic scholar in Nasarawa State, Malam Muhammad Sani, has called on Muslims in the state to enroll their children in schools so as to equip them for the challenges of modern world and prepare them for the life hereafter.

Malam Sani made the call last week in an interview with Nigerian Newsday.

He said education both Islamic and western was very important in the life of every child.

Malam Sani challenged parents to instill moral discipline in their children and frowned at the situation whereby poor and innocent children were being used by politicians to achieve their selfish aims.

He said most of these politicians sent their children to be educated abroad while using children of the poor as political thugs.

The Islamic scholar, who called on the media to create awareness on the forthcoming local government elections, stressed the need for a violent free election.

According to him, election is not a do or die affair and enjoined the electorate to, at all times, advocate for peace.

He commended Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma for the urban renewal programme, especially the construction of road network in Lafia Municipal.
