The Nasarawa State Government has earmarked the sum of Three Hundred Million Naira for the construction of a new General Hospital in Lafia.
 
The State Commissioner for Health, Abubakar Dahiru, disclosed this in Lafia while speaking to newsmen. He said provision has been made in the 2009 budget for the project adding that Governor Akwe Doma was determined to ensure that the project was executed.
 
According to the Commissioner, the construction of the new hospital was to reduce the pressure on the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital and provide additional health facility for residents of the State capital.
 
Malam Dahiru further disclosed that Government was considering the establishment of additional health facilities in selected local government areas.
 
The commission said that the Administration's 13-point agenda was being successfully implemented, especially in the health sector where 58 primary health centres have been renovated and equipped to standard.
