The Nasarawa State Government is set to spend the sum of Three Billion Naira in the immediate future on the provision of educational infrastructure and instructional materials.
 
Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma announced this in Lafia today while inaugurating the reconstituted State Primary Education Board and declaring open a one-day Stakeholders session on education. The Governor used the occasion to summarize the activities of his administration in the education sector in the past 18 months stating that the Administration was very committed to educational development in the State.
 
Turning to the new Board, Governor Doma charged them to exhibit the highest sense of responsibility, transparency and accountability at all times in their work.
 
Giving a preview of what the Board will face, the Governor said there is no doubt that the reconstituted Universal Basic Education Board will be confronted with the challenge of the new national policy on education and the implementation of Nasarawa State's strategic framework for education reform in the State. In the discharge of this enormous responsibility, therefore, the Board is to seek the cooperation and maintain cordial relationship with the Universal Basic Education Commission, Local Government Councils, Development Partners, the Teachers, Traditional Rulers, Parent Teachers Associations, religious bodies and the host communities.
 
On the need for the Stakeholders session, the Governor said the aim of the session was to stress the necessity of involving the stakeholders in efforts to restructure, revamp and refocus the educational system for better performance. Continuing, he said, the need to sensitize all and sundry to identify and play their respective roles in the education enterprise has also been recognized in tandem with the universal slogan of education for all, is the responsibility of all.
 
The twin occasion held in Lafia and attracted many dignitaries from within and outside the State.
