Staff of Lafia local government area of Nasarawa State risk being sacked as the authorities of the local government are threatening to relieve the appointment of truant staff who fail to show up at their duty posts.
Sending the warning signals, the local government boss, Alhaji Rayyanu Iliyasu, told the staff of the local government that he will not condone truancy, saying that anyone who failed to come to work or closes before time, should blame himself. The local government boss, who handed down the warning, threatened to sack any staff of the local government who failed to come to work at the scheduled time.
According to him, the local government will not hesitate to relieve the appointment of any staff that refused to come to work on time or leaves before closing hours without any excuse.
Alhaji Rayyanu, who handed the warning in his office along Markudi road Lafia, also said that the local government will henceforth reward staff who are in their duties, saying that every effort must be geared towards enhancing the welfare of staff that are zealous in their activities.
He maintained that it is a new dawn in the local government as only those who want to work will enjoy the privileges of the local government, adding that his tenure will be what he described as performance and truancy zero.
He then called on all directors, sectional heads and principal officers to ensure compliance from their various units or also have themselves to blame.
