My dear people of Nasarawa State, as our Muslim faithful in the State join their counterparts in Nigeria and other parts of the world in celebrating the Eid-el-Kabir festival, I wish on behalf of the Government and people of Nasarawa State, to congratulate the State Chairman of Jamaatu'ul Nasril Islam, the Ulamah and the entire Muslim Ummah on this solemn occasion.

The feast of Eid-el-Kabir is a test of faith in commemoration of the sublime submission by Prophet Ibrahim (A. S.) to the call for sacrifice. It should therefore be a constant reminder to all Muslims to live a life of sacrifice for the common good. On this occasion, I remind all Muslims of the need to continue to show love and understanding among yourselves and others of different faiths. I also urge that we use the festival to reaffirm our obedience to the injunctions of Almighty Allah as contained in the Holy Qu’ran and the Hadith.

Islam teaches peace, good neighbourliness and kindness. Let me use this opportunity to once again call on all the citizens of the State to continue to promote love, harmony, peaceful co-existence, understanding and respect for one another at all times. I urge that we all sustain our prayers and commitment for the progress and development of Nasarawa State, Nigeria and the world at large.

We must not forget to remember our Brothers and Sisters who are currently performing the Holy Pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. It is my hope and prayer that the Almighty Allah will reward their acts of worship and grant them journey mercies as they return home at the end of the pilgrimage. It is also my expectation that the exercise would spiritually rejuvenate them to better contribute to the socio-economic development of our State and Nation.

Dear citizens of Nasarawa State, on festive periods like this, I need to call on all road users to be cautious and always obey traffic regulations as you drive in order to avoid unnecessary accidents. Accordingly, officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission in the State are required to specially step up their operations during the celebrations. Let us all cooperate with them in the discharge of their responsibilities for the good of all.

I wish us all a happy, peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir. Barka da Sallah
