The Doma Emirate Council in Nasarawa State has raised the traditional status of Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma from Garkuwan Doma to Madauchin Doma. The new title was conferred on the Governor by the Andoma of Doma, Alhaji Aliyu Oga at an elaborate ceremony on Wednesday.

With the new title conferred on him, the Governor is now among the Doma Emirate king makers and next only to the Madaki who is the next person after the Emir by the hierarchy of the emirate.

Speaking during the occasion, the Andoma said the elevation was as a result of the Governor’s outstanding promotion of the welfare of the traditional institutions in the state. "The emirate is confident in your ability as the ambassador of our people for the good services you are rendering to the progress of this state", he said.

Responding, Doma thanked the Emir for considering him worthy of the title which he said he had inherited through his Grandfather, his Father and his late elder Brother. The Governor also thanked people of the state for the support and cooperation they accord his administration and assured to create more avenues that would rank the state higher among other states of the federation.
