On this occasion of the 2008 Eid-el-Fitr celebration, (being the 1st day of Shawwal 1429AH), Governor Doma wishes to congratulate the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Chapter of the Jamaatu'ul Nasiril Islam; all Muslim leaders; the Ulamahs and the entire Muslim faithful in Nasarawa State and indeed, the whole of Nigeria, for the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.

On this occasion of the 2008 Eid-el-Fitr celebration, (being the 1st day of Shawwal 1429AH), I wish to congratulate the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Chapter of the Jamaatu'ul Nasiril Islam; all Muslim leaders; the Ulamahs and the entire Muslim faithful in Nasarawa State and indeed, the whole of Nigeria, for the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.

We must thank the Almighty Allah for the strength and grace given to everyone of us to successfully go through the holy month of Ramadan in good health.

Let me also commend all Islamic voluntary organisations, such as the Aid Group of the Jamaatu'ul Nasiril Islam, Jamaatu’u Izalatil Bidi’a Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) and Federation of Muslim Women Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), for the special support they rendered to the less privileged members of our society and others during the fasting period.

As you are aware, the month of Ramadan is a sacred period of total devotion and worship of Allah. A period for specially requesting Allah for His forgiveness and blessing, as well as renewal of our spiritual life through self denial and rekindled love for mankind.

As we celebrate the Eid-el-fitr to mark the end of the holy month, I wish to call on the good people of Nasarawa State and indeed all Nigerians to continue to imbibe this spirit of sacrifice and love as taught by Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W).

I call on all and sundry to show understanding and accommodation for each other in order to sustain our corporate security, social harmony, peaceful coexistence and prosperity. As a people who have faith in the Almighty Allah, the creator of all beings, I urge the Muslim Ummah in particular, to continue to show love for others and live a life of sharing and caring. Islam is a religion of peace. We must therefore remain steadfast in our public and private lives in accordance with the tenets of the religion.

Let me also use this opportunity to felicitate with His Excellency, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, GCFR, President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the occasion of the Eid-el-fitr.

In conclusion, on behalf of my family, the government and people of Nasarawa State, I wish the Muslim Ummah a happy, peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr.

Please celebrate wisely and drive carefully.
