A member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Honourable Adamu Mu’azu has applauded the decision of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), not to impose candidates on the electorates in the forth-coming local government elections.
Fielding questions from the press recently, Hon. Mu’azu said "the decision reached at the stake holders meeting which frowns at the idea of imposing candidates is a welcomed development".
He said most election-related violence was caused by a deliberate attempt to subvert the wishes and aspirations of the masses that according to him are becoming more conscious of their rights".
The law maker said, it was necessary for PDP and indeed, every other political party to provide a level playing ground for all the candidates so that credible leaders will emerge.
Honourable Mu’azu who called on the youth to conduct themselves peacefully through out the party primaries billed for 22nd of September and the local government election slated for 1st November, said "there is no alternative to peaceful elections".
The law-maker who is a member representing Lafia North constituency stressed that he has embarked on so many constituency projects within his constituency.
He listed the construction of classroom buildings in Adogi, the roofing of examination hall at Government Secondary School, Gidan Maiakuya, and the donation of exercise books to students as part of his educational intervention projects.
"In the area of roads, I have been able to intervene in the construction of bridges by providing woods that were used in bridges like those of Gwayaka and the rest", he said.
Hon. Mu’azu reiterated his commitment to providing effective representation to the people of his constituency adding that, "the best, as far as I am concern, is yet to come".
He, however, called on the electorates to be patient with both elected and appointed officials.
