A chairmanship aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Akwanga Local Government Council of Nasarawa State, Architect Stanley John Mahmud Buba has promised to render better services to the people if elected.

Architect Buba who is the immediate past chairman of the council said he would consolidate on his past achievements if re-elected.

Speaking in an interview with our reporter, Arch. Buba said he was recontesting for the position based on request by members of his party as well as majority of the electorates.

He said one of his achievements while in office was the payment of huge debts running into millions which was incurred by his predecessors.

Arch Buba said the settlement of these debts enabled his administration to implement some programmes that impacted positively on the lives of the people.

He said that his administration was able to provide employment to many youths, while several women were economically empowered. This, he said, assisted greatly to boost the status of the beneficiaries as well as their dependants.

Arch Buba further said that his administration introduced a drug revolving scheme and constructed a number of health centres which ensured effective health care delivery to the people.

He said a number of culverts and bridges were constructed across the local government by his administration, which eased transportation and boosted business activities in the area.

He said when elected as the chairman of Akwanga Local Government for the second time he would ensure unity of people in the area, pointing out that "unity is the basis upon which meaningful development would be achieved".

The chairmanship aspirant said he would continue with his youth employment and women empowerment programme, as according to him, "they are the two groups that will facilitate rapid development of the area".

Arch Buba said, if re-elected, he would focus on the provision of basic infrastructure such as bridges, water, and electricity which are lacking in the area.

He called on his supporters to continue to be orderly, law abiding and peaceful as they go about campaigning for him.

Arch Buba expressed optimism that he would win the race, saying that his past records of achievements would see him through.
