Elected Public Officers Serving at both state and federal levels from Nasarawa state have been advised to assist in developing their communities so as to give the people sense of belonging.

The Secretary, Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NAISEC) Mr. Akolo Baba Audu gave the advice during on appeal fund launch to complete the building of an examination hall of Wana Community Secondary School, Kagbu in Agidi Development Area of the state.

Mr Audu noted that, "after several hours of standing in the sun, suffered hunger and pains, voting them (elected officers) into power, they thereafter neglect their electorate without considering the process that took them into such executive positions".

While stressing the need for every elected officer to always come home to contribute their quotas for the progress and development of their communities, Mr. Audu called on politicians to always remember the difficulties electorate usually went through during every election.

The NASIEC secretary who was the guest speaker at the occasion suggested that any public office holder who refused to honour calls or invitation of his people should be black-listed by the community adding that, time will come when such politicians would be rejected by their communities.

He also suggested to communities in the state to have open registers for all its public officers who had served and are still serving, as that would update their knowledge of those who have been identifying with them.

Earlier in a remark, the principal of Wana Community Secondary School, Kagbu Mr David Famiyeh called on the Nasarawa State Government to come to the aid of the school to enable it meet up with its day to day financial commitment and to contribute more meaningfully to the educational development of the state.

Mr. Famiyeh who spoke extensively on the academic performance of the school, rated it as one of the best schools in the state that has science-oriented subjects and students.

He said that in the 2006 senior school certificate examination for both West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) the school recorded excellent results while in 2007 the success was doubled.
