DPM harps on peace and unity

The Director of Personnel Management (DPM) of Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Mr. Stephen Y. Abashi, has reiterated his determination to be focused and fully committed in ensuring that peace and unity continue to exist amongst the people of the local government area irrespective of different status, interests and norms.
The DPM, who made the assertion in a chat with Nigerian Newsday in his office penultimate week, said that the people of Kokona Local Government Area were law-abiding and peace-loving, adding that they are also supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) laudable programmes in the state under the leadership of Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma.
"Without fear of contradiction, many persons would agree with me that Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma is unselfish and a reliable leader. He is very good in studying situations before providing solutions and has the needed experience to take this state to greater heights. You can see that all his blue prints are geared towards uplifting the standard of Nasarawa State," the DPM stated.
On his achievements, he said, he had been able to rehabilitate Dari bridge at the cost of N3.7 million, renovate the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) clinic in Moroa village at the cost of N1.2 million, extend water supply to Angwan Matasa and that through the council’s a generating plant worth N3.5 million was installed in Garaku town.
According to him, peace and unity was one area that his administration would continue to give attention to.
Answering a question about the forthcoming local government elections in the state, Mr. Abashi said, "we will ensure free and fair conduct of the elections. I am appealing to all the aspirants to conduct themselves in an orderly manner during and after the elections. I am urging them to also conduct themselves in an orderly manner in order to have peaceful elections".
He further commended the effort of Abaga Toni, Dr. Sylvester Oho Ayih, who is the president of the traditional council of the area for his fatherly.
