The Emir of Lafia, Alhaji Isa Mustapha Agwai I, has assured the management of Nasarawa Publishing Company (NPC) Limited, the publishers of Nigerian Newsday and Nasara newspapers, of his emirate’s support.

The emir gave the assurance last week when the management staffof the NPC led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Malam Abubakar M. B. Ibrahim, paid him a courtesy call in his palace.

He said: "The emirate council is closely watching the activities of the company, which so far has been worth commending the Lafia emirate council will give the company all the necessary assistance to enable it compete favourably with other media organisations".

The royal father, who pledged to donate a parcel of land for the company to enable it build its headquarters in Lafia, commended the organization for giving the state adequate publicity, enjoining the management team to sustain the tempo.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the organization, Malam Ibrahim, said the organization has been "properly repositioned to serve the state and its people better".

He said the visit was to enable the management staff familiarize themselves with the emirate council, which according to him, was instrumental to the maintenance of peace and order in the state.

"As the custodian of the peoples cherished culture, the emirate council has a lot to share with the media because we are purveyors of information," the CEO stressed.

He reiterated the organisation’s commitment to partner with the traditional institution so as to publicise the state’s rich cultural values "as well as contribute in giving the state wider publicity".

On the CEO’s entourage were the Managing Editor, Mr. Michael Ejembi, Malam Ahmed Daniyalu and Malam Harsanu Mohammed, head of Administration and head of corporate affairs, respectively.

In a related development, the Andoma of Doma, Alhaji Ahmadu Aliyu Oha, has commended Nasarawa Publishing Company (NPC), for the way and manner it has been disseminating information about development in the state, urging the company to sustain the tempo of its coverage.

The Andoma made the call when the management staff of the company, led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Malam Abubakar M. B. Ibrahim, paid him a courtesy call last week in his palace at Doma.

He urged the NPC to ensure that its newspapers reported the truth at all times, stating his readiness to partner with NPC in the interest of the development of the state.

Earlier in his remarks, the Operations Manager of the company, Malam Abba Nuhu, who spoke on behalf of the delegation, said the company would not relent in its efforts at propagating the activities and development programmes of the state, stressing that the company would continue to give adequate publicity to the activities of all communities across the state.

Meanwhile, the Nasarawa State Government has been called upon to provide all necessary equipment to the NPC to enable it thrive in the newspaper industry.

The Oriye Rindiri of Wamba, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Mohammed Lawal Musa Nagogo, made this call when the management staff of the company led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Malam Abubakar M. B. Ibrahim, paid him a courtesy visit last week in his palace at Wamba.

Alhaji Nagogo called on the state government to relocate the production centre of the NPC from Abuja to Lafia, the state capital.

Earlier, the managing editor of NPC, Mr. Michael Ejembi, who spoke on behalf of the delegation, stated that they were in the palace to present the new management team of NPC to the traditional ruler and to solicit for his support.

Mr. Ejembi said NPC has planed to undertake a project aimed at documenting the history, culture and evolution of traditional institutions in the state, soliciting for the royal father’s cooperation in this regard.
