DPM reiterates commitment to development

The Director of Personnel Management (DPM) of Loko Development Area of Nasarawa State, Alhaji Abubakar Ella, has promised to remain committed, and focused towards the development of the area.
The DPM, who made this known in an exclusive interview with Nigerian Newsday in his office at Loko recently, also called on the people of the area to cooperate with the administration of Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma for the upliftment of the area and the state as a whole.
He said that he has been working hand-in-hand with the other management staff of the area since he became the head of the development area in order to provide the needed dividends of democracy for the people of Loko and its environs.
According to him, since he became the acting chairman of Loko Development Area, he has been making judicious of the little revenue accruing to the area, adding that the development area has so far constructed three bridges along Loko – Aguba road, as well as provided meaningful contributions in the areas of health, education and security.
"With the little revenue that comes into the treasury of the development area, we were able to provide the following for our people. We renovated Kereku Bridge, Gofa Bridge, extension of Gofa road and the bridge between Abawyi Oguma and Obane junction. We also gave out 10 bundles of roofing sheets to the people of Ayele for their primary school, as well as gave out N100,000 and another N50,000 to the people of Uwhe and the people of Oguba for the renovation of their primary health care centre and roofing of Oguba Police Station, respectively," the DPM stated.
Alhaji Ella further disclosed that within the short time of his administration, with the help of his management team, they were able to build a clinic at Loko in Rimi ward, made adequate provision for the building of a butchers shop at Loko, ensured that staff salaries and other staff benefits were paid at appropriate time as well as taking good care of different security agencies working in Loko.
In his words: "One of the major problems that we faced when we came on board was during the Tunga community crisis or clash with Tondo community of Toto in respect of a fish pond. Many Tunga people were injured and we decided to came to their aids by way of paying their hospital bills as well as ensured that peace and unity came back to the area".
He further stated that preparation has reached an advanced stage for the commissioning of four clinics in the development area, saying "very soon we will be commissioning clinics at Ayelle, Iggn Sarki, Ushata and Ishata villages. These projects will cost us N0.4 million. We have also been contributing immensely towards the success of NID programme, so far we spent about N0.5 million for the programme.
The DPM also appealed to the Nasarawa State Government to come to their aid in respect of gully erosion that has been Loko’s problem for a long time.
He then solicited for the continued support and cooperation of the people of Loko Development Area to Governor Doma to enable him provide more services to them.
Speaking about the peaceful co-existence prevailing in Loko Development Area, the DPM tasked the people of the area, the state and the nation as a whole to continue to imbibe the spirit of peaceful co-existence in order "to promote our democracy and make Nigeria a greater and better nation".
