An Association known as National Association of Professional Secondary School Teachers (NAPSST) has been inaugurated in Nasarawa state.

In his address at the inauguration ceremony, the co-ordinator of Teachers Registration council of Nigeria (TRCN) Nasarawa state chapter, Mr. Shehu Sani Odman called on teachers in the state to unite and speak with one voice in order to achieve their aims and objectives.

He explained that TRCN in Nasarawa state would continue to register and regulate its teachers to become more professionals.

He said that, TRCN has constituted a committee to monitor the affairs and the registration of teachers in the state.

In his speech at the occasion, the chairman of the new association, Alhaji Sarki Tanko said teaching profession was the mother of all professions, "because all the other known professionals are products of teachers".

He stressed that teaching occupied a fundamental and critical position in the advancement of any society.

Alhaji Tanko urged teachers, employers and stakeholders to regard the goals and vision of the association as part of their legitimate professional and organizational obligations and to give maximum support for its success.

He thanked the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) for granting them an affiliate letter, the ministry of Education and office of the Head of Service for the maximum cooperation and fatherly advice.

He advised teachers to remain focused, determined and committed to their profession.
