FRSC boss appeals to motorists

The Senior Road Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Nasarawa State sector command, Mrs. Grace U. Aluku has urged drivers and motorcyclists in the state to always check the conditions of their vehicles before putting them on the roads.
Mrs. Aluku stated this recently at a three-day workshop on repositioning "The Driver For An Effective Road Usage", organized by the FRSC, Nasarawa state sector command held at Sandaji Chalete Lafia.
In a lecture delivered at the workshop, she said a sound and functional vehicle, also aided in the prevention of road accidents.
She therefore, said, it was mandatory for all motorists to ensure that their vehicles were always kept and maintained in good working condition.
She pleaded with drivers not to wait until their vehicles developed problems before giving them attention and urged them to always respond to the warnings giving by the vehicles as they drive to them.
In his paper, the Assistant Route Commander of FRSC Nasarawa State sector command, Mr. Usman Garba called on motorcyclists to always ensure that their brakes, tyres, clutch, throttle, brakelights, headlights, rearlights, pressure, mirror and horn were in good conditions before embarking on journeys.
Mr. Garba urged drivers to always be patient, "careful, think ahead in order to minimize accidents on the roads".
Speaking shortly with Nigerian Newsday after the workshop, the Public Enlightenment Officer (PEO) FRSC Nasarawa State sector command officer Daniel Kazah commended the administration of Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma for the expantion of roads within Lafia the state capital and his plan to construct a bye-pass in Lafia, saying that it would reduce the rate of accidents and traffic jams in the city.
