As part of its efforts to establish a new cargo airport in Gusau, the state capital, the Zamfara State Government has signed a memorandum of understanding with a Korean company for the construction of a new airport expected to be completed by the end of next year.

This was made known by the state commissioner of information, Alhaji Ibrahim Dan-Malikin Gidan Goga, while briefing newsmen at the end of the state executive council meeting in Gusau, last week.

The commissioner also stated that the sum of N12 billion has been set aside by the Zamfara State Government towards the completion of the project, adding that when completed, thousands of job opportunities would be created for the people in the state.

The commissioner disclosed plans by the state government to regularize the appointments of about 74 casual staff of the state owned Legacy newspaper company, adding that the state government has given the go ahead for the appointment of additional senior members of staff for the company.

He hinted that about 290 district heads in the state would soon be provided new KIA saloon cars purchased for them by the state government, as part of efforts by the state government to boost their morale and ensure the continued existence of a cordial relationship between them and the state government.
