The Minister of Environment, Housing and Urban Development, Arch. Halima Tayo Alao, has assured staff of her ministry of maximum benefit from the Federal Government's staff welfare scheme.

While giving the 2008 ministerial staff briefing on "Internalizing Challenges On Climate Change and enhancing easier Access to Land For Sustainable Development." She noted that her ministry in realising the importance of staff welfare was poised to motivate her staff to achieve the set goals of the ministry.
The minister explained issues associated with promotions and discipline of staff of the ministry alongside staff training. She reiterated that about one hundred and sixty seven staff had been trained by the ministry during the period under review, while junior staff and one hundred senior staff had benefited from management and professional courses both locally and internationally.

She also stressed the issue of retired and disengaged staff’s pension payment, she noting that the payment for four hundred and five retired staff were being processed. As regards staff who were dead, she said that the ministry had budgeted about N2.330 million for the next of kin of the deceased.
