Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Akwe Doma, has challenged Auditors to be at the forefront in ensuring compliance to best practices in budgetary and financial activities in the state.
The governor gave the charge while declaring open the 4th Annual Conference of the Association of Public Service (ASPSAN) held at the Nasarawa Investment Conference Centre Hotel, Lafia.
He said through exchange of ideas the conference participants would be able to suggest ways of ensuring efficient conduct of public affairs through prudent management of human, material and financial resources.
He also expressed his hope that the delegates would be exposed to the imperative of transparency, honesty and value for money in public service expenditure in a democratic setting.
In his speech, the auditor-general of the federation, Mr. O. R. Ejenavi, expressed his gratitude to the Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Akwe Doma, for his interest in the affairs of the auditors.
He said the governor’s concern was a clear testimony to his high regards for accountability "which is at the heart of proper governance."
Mr. O. R. Ejenavi noted that the governor and the auditor-general in Nasarawa State have thrown a challenge to other states auditors-general and their respective governments because of the support they have demonstrated to public sector auditing in the state.
