By Anthony Adgidzi, Akwanga
Nasarawa State Police Command has said that henceforth no police officer would be promoted without acquiring computer knowledge.
This, according to the command, was in line with the decision of the Inspector-General of Police that every police personnel must be computer literate.
The state police commissioner, Mr. Shehu Babalolla, disclosed this during the graduation ceremony of 84 officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), who completed computer training in Akwanga recently.
The police boss who was represented by the commandant of Akwanga Area command ACP Abons Moses Esusa, said to be computer literate was necessary because it would improve their performance.
Mr. Babalola said acquiring the knowledge would ease their activities and would afford them the opportunity to face the challenges of globalization and called on those who were yet to undergo the training to do so, as the state police command would not reverse its decision.
He said no knowledge was useless, saying that a policeman is a jack of all trade hence the need to have knowledge about every profession.
In his address of welcome, the principal executive officer, Emmanuel Information Technology Institute, Mr. Folorunso Emmanuel, said the knowledge acquired in computer would help them fight criminality and make them to be part of the modern technology revolution.
Mr. Emmanuel who said that there was pride in acquiring computer knowledge, urged them to always go for what challenged their imagination.
Mr. Emmanuel whose institution is currently training another set of men of the NPF from the Akwanga Area Command has just graduated the first batch.
In a remark, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Akwanga division, CSP Emmanuel Aloko, thanked the institute for agreeing to train its men and urged the graduates to put what they have learned into practice.
Mr. Aloko then called on them to use their money to purchase computer set to enhance their knowledge.

i strongly support the idea of having computer literate police officers. it would facilitate better effectiveness and efficiency. i would love to render assistance any way i can, in providing laptops to these police men at affordable and flexible prices, as well as training.
thanks. |
