The First Ladies of Nigeria and Nasarawa state, Hajiya Turai Umaru Yar’adua and Hajiya Raliya Aliyu Akwe Doma have been commended for their initiatives on National Women Coalition against HIV/AIDS and breast cancer pet projects for the well being of the women folk in Nigeria and Nasarawa state in particular.

This commendation was contained in an address by Director of Personal Management (D.P.M) of Pando Development Area, Mrs Charity N.D Ijim at the official launching of Panda Development Area chapter of the National Woman Coalition on HIV/AIDS project.

The D.P.M called on the members of the public to shun stigmatization and discrimination against the victims of HIV/AIDS and show love and affection to give them a sense of belonging in the society in general. While noting with concern that the fight against HIV/AIDS should not be left to women alone, she said that "men are mostly guilty because of some unclean behaviour exhibited by them".

She further advised that the campaigns should not be narrowed to HIV/AIDS alone but the idea of eating good food to promote the body immunity should also be preached.

The D.P.M who is also the chairperson of the committee cautioned against indiscriminate sex and advised that members of the public should endeavour to go for HIV test to enable them plan their living.

She also maintained that the duties of the technical working committee among others include enlightenment awareness campaign in their various districts/communities against HIV/AIDS and submit reports of such activities to the Development Area for an on ward submission to the state.

Mrs Ijim then charged the members of the committee to take the assignment with all seriousness, calling on the members of the general public to support the project for the attainment of the desired goals.

In their goodwill messages Mr. David Ijim, Dr Aniasa of the Panda general Hospital and former commissioner Hon. Bulsu G. Atara among others applauded the foresight of Hajiya Turai Umaru Yar’adua and Hajiya Rahiya Akwe Doma, for initiating the health projects.
