A Makurdi High court has upheld the election of Hon Mohammed Baba Ibaku member representing Udege-Loko in the Nasarawa state House of Assembly.

The Action Congress (AC) House of Assembly candidate for Udege/Loko constituency in the recent House of Assembly bye election, Mr Umaru Sani Egini had challenged the election of Hon Ibaku at the court but his application was thrown out for lack of merit by a Makurdi High court.

It would be recalled that the same AC candidate had earlier taken Hon Ibaku to the state election petition tribunal sitting in Lafia and his petition was also thrown out for lack of concrete evidence.

Addressing the state House of Assembly correspondents in his office in Lafia, Hon Ibaku said when the case was filed by the AC candidate at the Makurdi court, he (Ibaku) was optimistic that he would win the case.

He said his victory would give him the strength to serve his people the more.

Hon Ibaku called on the AC candidate to put the past behind him and join hands with him (Ibaku) in order to move the constituency forward.

The lawmaker stated that when the Makurdi High court ruled in his favour, the AC candidate was the first person he contacted on phone "asking him to join me so that we can work together".

Hon Ibaku called on the people of his constituency to remain calm and humble and give the PDP Government all the necessary support to enable it serve them well.
