Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Akwe Doma has enjoined Ulama to always preach unity and brotherhood of all Muslims and non-Muslims alike in the on-going quest for a crisis-free world.
In his goodwill message on the occasion of Maulud of Sheik Ibrahim Inyass’ national cerebration in Lafia, at the weekend, Doma said the quest for world peace could only be attained through messages of peaceful co-existence among various religions and tribes by the Ulama and other religious leaders.
He called on them to always endeavour to expand their horizon about Islam, while also urging commitment to its universal values of love, tolerance, respect and loyalty to constituted authority.
Maulud, he noted, is an occasion for Muslims to remind themselves of the fact that Islam is a religion of peace and that it is pertinent for both leaders and followers to always conduct themselves in such a way as to demonstrate this reality.
"In our desire to sustain social cohesion and moral rectitude, all Muslims should remind themselves on the need to desist from unacceptable conducts and practices that tend to portray Islam in bad light," he said.
He appealed to Muslim youths to listen to words of exhortations from preachers and leaders so as to distance themselves from negative practices such as drug abuse, pre-marital sexual relationship, crime and other vices which are offensive to Allah.
He assured of his administration’s continuous support to all religious groups in the collective determination to achieve progress through moral rectitude and good conduct.
He urged students of Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass to continue to study and reflect on his exemplary character as it is only by doing so that his teachings would become the guiding light for future generations.
