The former adviser to the Governor of Nasarawa State on manpower development, Mr. Oliver N. Agwadu, has said that the greatest threat to the world today was the increasing neglect of children by parents.

Mr. Agwadu stated this while speaking at the speech and prize giving day ceremony of Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) Girls College Akwanga recently.

He said a child could only be properly brought up within the family which provides the conducive atmosphere for his education.

Mr. Oliver who is now the director of information of the College of Agriculture, Lafia, said the family and school have joint responsibility to ensure that the child fully develops his or her natural potentials.

The former adviser said education was a long-term investment and urged parents to give their children good quality education so that they could be great leaders of tomorrow,

He then challenged the students to be upright and plan well for their future, and not to allow anything to distract them from the pursuit of education.

In his words: "Culture should not transfix you, you should transform culture. Religion should not tear you apart, it should bind you together, you should not seek to destroy but build each other up in love, in unity and in faith".
