As Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Akwe Doma has got another award from Baptist High School Old Students Association (BHSOSA), he has reiterated his administration’s desire to improve the quality of life of the people of the state through his 13-point development agenda.

Governor Doma who was represented by his deputy, Chief John Michael Abdul, received an award for his development strides in one year in office at an occasion held at the Baptist High School, Assembly Hall in Jos, Plateau State capital recently.

According to him, "his achievements thus far is as a result of commitment and vision which is aimed at fulfilling the social contract with the people of the state, which covers education, health care, agriculture, water supply and road construction in order to bring about an improvement in the quality of life of the people".

He said that he was delighted that people outside the state appreciated the modest efforts being made by his administration to develop the state and vowed that he would do everything possible to ensure that he fulfilled his campaign promises.

The governor then commended Baptist High School for maintaining sound moral, spiritual and academic standards, adding that the school has already carved a niche for itself and therefore urged the management of the school not to relent.

While thanking the old students’ association for the award, he assured that it would spur him to do greater things.

He then charged graduating students of the school to be its good ambassadors anywhere they would find themselves.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Plateau State Governor, Da Jonah Jang, commended the authorities of the school for the spiritual growth and moral rectitude they continued to imbibe in their students.

Governor Jang said the hope of the people of the state government in improving education in the state remained with the missionary schools as according to him public schools were in disarray.

The president of BHOSA, Dr. Bala Takaya, said the award, which was part of the institution’s 43rd anniversary was given to those he said have excelled and made marks in their chosen fields of endeavour.

He, however, added that at no point in time did the awardees know they were being monitored and supervised, saying the association carried out an independent and secret monitoring and evaluation to arrive at the winners of the various categories of the awards.

Those who received the awards were Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma, for development, Governor Jonah Jang, for vision and excellence, Gbong Gwon Jos, Da Victor Pam, for exemplary leadership and Dr. Christ Isichei, founder of Faith Alive Foundation, for youth empowerment and selfless service.

Four children of Governor Doma, namely, Hauwa, Ramatu, Umar and Halima Doma, who passed out from the school were all in attendance at the occasion.
