A group known as Kogi Youths for total change has called on Governor Ibrahim Idris to as a matter of urgency re-organize the management of Kogi State University so as to reflect his desire for academic excellence.

The group chairman, comrade Atta Usman and the between them and some staff of the institution secretary, Bolaji Ajayi said the allegations by some students that money exchanged hands during the post University Matriculation Examination (UME) test before they were admitted has totally robbed the less privileged candidates who have no money to offer but duly qualified to be admitted by the university.

The group commended the giant strides of the vice-chancellor, Professor Francis Idachaba, but alleged that "his failing health has given opportunity to notorious staff of the university to perpetuate corruption via admission rackets."

It specifically alleged that the deans and heads of departments of the institution were involved in sharp practices during the admission period.

They, however, expressed appreciation to governor Ibrahim Idris for commissioning the building of law faculty and other facilities in the university.

"We have declared our un-alloyed support to the administration of governor Ibrahim Idris for emancipating the youths in the state via massive employments, scholarship to the students and youths empowerments.

In another development, the education secretary of Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi state, Malam Abubakar Ibn Ahmed has called on striking teachers to return to class in the interest of the pupils and students.

Malam Ahmed who made the call while addressing journalists immediately he took an oath of office admitted that teachers in the country needed more incentives but advised that they should return to class while the negotiation continues.

"I quite agree with them on every of their demands because I am a teacher too, but they should re-consider their stand in the interest of the country," he said. He commended the Kogi State Government for providing instructional materials, infrastructure and teachers for schools in the state.

Malam Ahmed, a 2004 graduate of University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) said he will ensure training and re-training of teachers in Lokoja Local Government Council.

He charged them to reciprocate the gesture of the government by leaving up to the expectation at all time.
