Authorities of the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, have renewed their appeal to the Nasarawa State Government to complete the construction of the Gynaecology Obstetrics complex it donated to the centre some years ago.

The chief medical director of the health institution, Dr. Ahmed Bawa Abimiku, made the plea while speaking with Nigerian Newsday in his office at Keffi recently.

He said the early completion of the project would enhance the health care services of the centre, especially that such complex is very vital for its operation, adding that the non completion of the complex has been causing a lot of setback to the activities of the hospital.

According to him, the completion of the complex would apart from enhancing the health care delivery service of the hospital, especially that it is also serving as a referral centre due to its strategic location along the ever busy Keffi – Abuja Federal highway, it would also go along way in complementing the health care programme of the state government.

In his words: "In fact, the completion of the complex would be a major plus and in line with the 13-point agenda of the state government".

According to the CMD, it was based on the significance of the complex and the need to have it completed that the centre spoke to Honourable Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, member representing Keffi, Karu and Kokona federal constituency in the House of Representatives on the need for him to also plead with the state government to have the work completed.

On the efforts being made by the centre to ensure the completion of the complex, Dr. Abimiku said that he has been talking to the relevant authorities to help draw the attention of the state government to it.

He also disclosed that the hospital was planning to complete one arm of the complex because of its significance to effective service e delivery in the hospital.

Speaking on the medical services being rendered to the people by the centre, Dr. Abimiku assured that the centre was properly positioned to take care of tertiary medical services, expressing that the centre has qualified medical personnel who are working round the clock to take care of the patients to the best of their abilities.
