The management of Nasarawa Publishing Company (NPC) Limited, publishers of Nigerian Newsday and Nasara newspapers, has approved the new promotions and redeployment of staff of the organization in a bid to ensure higher productivity.

As part of the ongoing reorganization exercise in the company, Mr. Mike Ejembi, former head of special projects was made managing editor, Malam Salisu Adamu took over as head of special projects, while Malam Rabiu Abdullahi and Mr. David Z. Masin, former editorial coordinator, and news editor respectively moved up as associate editors.

Also, Malam Abba Nuhu, former finance manager of the company was appointed the operations manager while Abdulkareem O. Muhammed, former accountant 1 took over as head of finance department.

Malam Daniyalu Ahmed, former personnel officer replaced Jibrin O. Giza as the new head of administration and Malam Harsanu H. Muhammed, erstwhile marketing manager became the corporate affairs manager. Malam Zakari Shuaibu former marketing officer, now heads the advertisement department.

Others affected by the reorganization included Abubakar Haruna, senior administration officer, Simon Inalegwu, assistant editor (political), Abubakar Sani, assistant news editor, Hamza Alhassan and Iliyasu Musa, sports editor and news editor, Nasara newspaper respectively.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the newspaper company, Malam Abubakar M. B. Ibrahim, said the reorganization was done with a view to taking the NPC to the next level.

He said that it now more than ever before became imperative to adequately publicize government’s activities, adding that, "the state government programmes aimed at improving the welfare of the people have clearly started manifesting themselves."

He said that the NPC was compelled by the development strides of the government to reposition itself in order to effectively play its role in the task of building the state and the nation.

While noting that the reorganization has brought round pegs into round holes, he however, charged the entire staff of the company to redouble their efforts in discharging their duties.

He assured that his administration would not relent in its effort to "reposition and re-energize NPC to face the global media challenges ahead of us."

He stated that the NPC has decided to embark on a project aimed at propagating the good image of the state Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Akwe Doma and the policies and programmes of his government.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Malam Abubakar M. B. Ibrahim, who made this known in Lafia, last week, said Nigerian Newsday will publish series of reports tagged "Progress check" to highlight the achievements of ministries, boards, parastatals and companies owned by the state government.

The NPC boss said the objective of the project was to showcase the achievements of each ministry and organization in the last one year and to portray how these achievements have impacted on the electorate during the period under review.

Malam Ibrahim appealed to the affected ministries and organizations to avail themselves of this rare opportunity provide them by the NPC to publicize the achievements of their organizations in the pages of the Nigerian Newsday newspaper.

In another development, the Nasarawa State Publishing Company (NPC) Limited, said it would partner National Association of Nigeria Libraries (NANL) to improve the reading culture among the people.

The NPC chief executive officer of the company, Malam Abubakar M. B. Ibrahim, stated this in his office in Lafia last week during a courtesy visit by officials of the NANL, Nasarawa State chapter.

Malam Ibrahim said the NPC would assist the NANL to publicize its enlightenment programmes aimed at encouraging the general public, particularly the youth and students to cultivate the reading habit.

The NPC boss said that the society would best develop when people engage in regular extensive and wide reading of published works.

He said reading of such works would help to improve the knowledge of the people on a wide range of issues, thereby equipping the society with better ideas and development strategies.

He challenged the NANL to formulate a sustainable enlightenment programme that would awaken the people to embrace reading and research through the use of the library.

Earlier, the NANL chairman in Nasarawa State, Malam Dalhatu Usman Jibril, noted with concern the near absence of library services in the state.

Malam Jibril appealed to the Nasarawa State Government to come up with a deliberate policy that would make library services available to members of the public in all local government areas of the state.

He also urged the state ministry of education to equip secondary schools libraries with relevant books for students to consult.

Other NANL officials that accompanied Malam Jibril during the visit were Godwin Amidu, secretary, Peter Oda, assistant secretary, Atiku Ribi, public relations officer and Anzaku Isuwa Simon, editor-in-chief.
