Nasarawa state chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) chairman, Very Reverend Jerry Madibo has admonished Christians to be thankful and faithful to God in whatever legitimate work they find themselves doing to earn a living.

Rev. Madibo who is also the minister of God in charge of the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (E. R. C. C. ) English Chapel, Glory land, Lafia, stated this recently at the "profession thanksgivings praise worship" service organized by the church.

In his brief words of exhortation, Rev. Madibo said in the household of God everybody and every profession were important.

He said when God created man, he gave him something to do to earn a living "because God hates idleness."

According to him, idleness leads to poverty and frustration and appealed to Christians to always find a legitimate thing to do for a living.

He said Christians should always appreciate God by giving offering and tithes among others to God for the profession He has given them and stressed "it doesn’t matter how lucrative your profession is but what matters is the blessings of God on it".

Rev. Madibo said "It is disheartening that when people get jobs they have been seeking for, they would dislibrately refuse to go back to God for thanksgiving"

According to him, when Christians refused to thank God for what He has given them, God could reverse His decision and take such gifts away from them.

He then called on different professionals such as journalists, doctors, farmers, and ministers of God to practise their professions well. "If you are a minister of God preach the truth, act the truth and live by what you preach", he said.

He then called on governments at all levels to create more jobs for the unemployed. He identified greed and mis-management as a major problem facing the country.

Rev. Modibo said a situation whereby some people would want to accumulate too much wealth did not augur well for the healthy existence of Nigeria.

Fourteen professional bodies gave thanks to God at the occasion.
