An aspirant on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the chairmanship position of Obi Local Government Area, Mr. David, O. Ayewa has denied allegation of his involvement in the recent crisis in Obi.

Mr. Ayewa stated this in an interview with Nigerian Newsday in his residence in Obi, recently.

The PDP aspirant said, "I have not suponsored any youth to cause a chaos".

Mr. Ayewa said that as a founding father of PDP in the area, he could not use his hands to destroy what he built.

He explained that at the time the youths blocked the road in Obi, he got wind of what was happing and made effort to see that it was nipped in the bud.

While disassociating himself from the unruly behaviour of the youths, he alleged that the rumour about his involvement in the unrest was masterminded by his political opponents to tarnish his reputation.

The aspirant promised to promote peace and always work towards reconciliation of all factions in Obi.

He observed that the said crisis was not as a result of chairmanship election, but about the wards congress, stressing that the process used during the congress was wrong.

Nigerian Newsday gathered that some youths involved in the crisis were arrested by the law enforcement agents and peace has returned to Obi town.
