DASH set for accreditation to train surgeons

The Chief Medical Director of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH), Lafia, Dr. Joseph O. Ogbere said all measures have been taken by the management to ensure the accreditation of the hospital by the visiting team of surgeons from the national post graduate school of surgeons, for the training of post graduate doctors.
Dr. Ogbere who made the remake while speaking to newsmen in his office, said the department of family medicine of DASH had already been accreditated and has started training doctors at the post graduate level.
He said that the hospital was determined to ensure the accreditation of other courses to train doctors at the post graduate level in all fields.
The Chief Medical Director said that the target of the hospital was to train and re-train doctors in all fields to have enough and qualified doctors that would render quality services to the people.
Said he: “We are very happy that we are able to meet the requirements for the inspection team from the National Post Graduate School of Surgeons.”
He expressed confidence that the training of post graduate doctors in DASH would provide quality services to the people.
He said that presently 13 indigenous doctors were undergoing training outside the state.
He also commended the state government for supporting the accreditation exercise.
He promised to expand structure in the hospital, saying “more structures would be created to provide wards for other departments that are lacking facilities.
Earlier, the team leader from the National Post Graduate School of Surgeons, Lagos Dr. Emmanuel O. Jeje, said the team was in Lafia to inspect the facilities for possible accreditation for post graduate training of surgeons in DASH.
Dr. Jeje noted that more facilities have been put in place than what they saw two years ago.
