A medical doctor with Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH) Lafia Dr. Isa Yahaya has identified indiscrimate sex and eating of fats as some of the major causes of cancer in women.

Dr. Isa stated this while delivering lecture at the workshop on cancer and women, organized by Federation of Muslim Women’s Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN) Nasarawa State Chapter in Lafia recently.

He said women should always go for medical check up when ever they feel pains on their breasts to ascertain the cause.

Dr. Isa advised women to avoid taking fat and indiscriminate sex, adding that if they see sign or symptom of any disease on their breasts they should try and see a physician.

In her speech, the wife of the former governor Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu, Hajiya Khadijat Adamu called on women to send their children to school as according to her education is the bed rock of any development.   

She appealed to the participants to use what they learnt during the workshop in order to avoid contracting cancer.

Hajiya Khadijat prayed to Allah to help the association to achieve its aims and objectives adding that FOMWAN should organize similar workshop or awareness campaign in all local government areas so that women in the rural areas will know the causes and dangers of breast cancer.

Earlier in her speech FOMWAN President in the state, Hajiya Zainab T. Abdulmumin  said the aim of organizing the workshop was to educate Muslim women on the causes of breast cancer and possible ways of contracting the disease.

She called on wellspirited individuals to assist the orgnisation in implementing its programmes and also called on women to live peacefully with one another irrespective of religious or tribal differences.
