President of Nasarawa State Youth Council, Comrade Haliru Wakaso has admonished youths in the state to be law abiding and exhibit commitment and diligence in all they do.

Comrade Wakaso stated this in an interview he granted Nigerian Newsday in Lafia recently. Wakaso who officially spoke to our correspondent  for the first time since his election as the state chairman advised youth to pursue purposeful life-time goals and not to engage in what could destroy their lives.

He said the youth council in collaboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) would soon embark on aggressive campaign at the grassroots to sensitize youth on the need to look within their immediate environment and engage in useful ventures to fend for themselves and not to rush to urban areas in search of government jobs.

He said his tenure as the youth president would ensure that youth’s activities in the state were well promoted and recreational facilities provided for the relaxation of the youth.

While commending the Aliyu Akwe’s government for appointing youth as commissioners and special advisers, Wakaso still made a case for more government patronage of the youth, particularly those in rural areas.

He then commended Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma for opening up rural roads, expansion of water projects across the state and giving Lafia a befitting face of a state capital, among other achievements.
