Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Akwe  Doma, has called on investors to buy into its N20 billion Farin Ruwa Eco-tourism resort in order to help the new initiative of the Federal Government on tourism promotion in the country.

Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Akwe  Doma, has called on investors to buy into its N20 billion Farin Ruwa Eco-tourism resort in order to help the new initiative of the Federal Government on tourism promotion in the country.

The Farin Ruwa Eco-tourism project was one of the e-tourism offerings of the Federal Ministry of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation launched at the information and sensitisation workshop organised by the ministry  in collaboration with e-Tourism Limited in Abuja this week.

Doma made this call at the two-day workshop designed for the private sector on applying information communications technology (ICT) to the business of tourism. While presenting his paper titled “Critical Issues in Implementing the Nigerian Tourism Master Plan: Discussion on the Farin Ruwa Eco-tourism Project,” the governor restated his administration’s commitment to providing infrastructure in the state.

Doma who was represented by the state’s Deputy Governor, Chief Michael John-Abdul, noted that Nigeria is blessed with abundant tourism potential that have remained largely untapped.
“What is fundamental is that we need to re-orientate our approach and review our commitment in harnessing these potentials,” he said.

Shedding light on the viability of the project, the governor said, Farin Ruwa Falls - the main natural attraction in the area - is situated in Marhai Forest Reserve, about two and half hours drive from the nation’s capital, Abuja ..  “The falls is one of the highest and captivating waterfalls in Africa and has the potential to attract both domestic and international tourists to the state and the country,” Doma explained.

Nigeria’s  Minister of Tourism and Culture, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, said what they have done is to provide a cash less society and convenience to both local business and leisure travellers in the country.

Tourism stakeholders across the country attended the event.
