Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma of Nasarawa State has again been commended for the pragmatic steps he has taken to reposition and regain the lost glory of the education sector in the state within the last one year of his administration.
President of the Conference of Local Government Information Officers of Nigeria, Comrade Abdullahi Adokwe Ladan, who made the commendation in a media statement made available to Nigerian Newsday, particularly applauded the vision in the constitution of an Education Reform Committee made up of seasoned educationists as members to produce a blue print for the way forward in the state education sector.
Malam Adokwe urged the committee to look into the issue of falling standard of education at the primary school as it is the foundation for building a sound system in imparting education to the children.
He further called for special incentives to graduates of teachers’ training colleges, as was done in the past so as to boost their morale and improve productivity.
He also offered his support on the call for re-establishment of autonomous schools of Preliminary Studies to serve as breeding ground for prospective seekers of university education, considering the status of the state as one of the educationally disadvantaged in the country.
