Osuko of Obi, Alhaji Dangiwa Ogiri Orume, has called on the people of Nasarawa State to support the programmes and policies of Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma so as to take the state to greater heights.
The Orume made the call recently at the dinner reception in honouor of Alhaji Mohammed Iyioga Oyigye and Alhaji Musa Abdullahi on their appointment as commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources and General Manager of Nasarawa Broadcasting Services (NBS), respectively, at the Ibrahim Abacha Youth Centre.
Alhaji Arume commended Governor Doma and former governor Abdullahi Adamu for the appointments of the duo to key positions in the state.
He advised the people to work for the progress of government always and to ensure that they live in harmony with one another.
Continuing, the Osuko of Obi observed that in the last 14 years there had been acrimony among the people of Obi to the extent that blood brothers would not greet each other; but that today unity has been restored in the area.
Osuko Orume said the people of Obi have every cause to celebrate because this was the first time in the history of Obi that two sons of the area were appointed to higher positions. “The crisis has deprived us of so many developments in Obi and its environs,” he said.
He challenged his subjects to henceforth work for the progress of Obi and advised the appointees to fly the flag of Obi in a manner that would warrant subsequent appointments to the people of the area.
Earlier, the chairman of Obi Development Association, Lafia branch, Alhaji Dauda Egwa, commended Governor Doma for recognizing the community through such appointments.
He called on the appointees to be good ambassadors of Obi in the cause of their assignments.
He appealed to all and sundry to cooperate with them in order to make their assignments worthwhile.
The chairman of the occasion, Senator Solomon A. Adokwe, advised the appointees to always look forward to helping the society develop in all ramifications.
He urged the people of Obi to always remain united and to work for the progress of the area.
The two appointees, Alhaji Oyigye and Musa Abduyllahi, promised to live above board and work for the progress of Obi land and to support Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma to attain greater heights and to improve the lots of Nasarawa people.
