Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma of Nasarawa State said plans have been concluded for the construction of more court buildings in the state.

The governor stated this in Lafia last week during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed grand khadi of the shari’ah court of appeal, 3 high court judges and a judge of the customary court of appeal.

He said that the government would strengthen the judiciary with a view to ensuring the quick dispensation of justice in the state.

The governor said the need for sufficient and well motivated judges was necessary for an efficient judicial system to thrive, maintaining that the state government would continue to provide the enabling environment for the judiciary to operate under.

The governor disclosed that his administration has approved the “renovation of existing court buildings and residential accommodation for judges”, adding that the support the training and re-training of judicial officers within and outside the country”.

He, however, enjoined judges to discharge their duties with the highest sense of responsibility, urging them “to dispense justice expeditiously”.

It would be recalled that Governor Doma recently approved the appointment of the grand khadi of the shari’ah court of appeal, three new high court judges and a judge for the state customary court of appeal.

Those sworn-in included Justice Mohammed Sani Abdullahi as the Grand Khadi, Simon Ozaki Aboki, Audu Bako Oka and Rose Godwin Soji as High Court Judges, while Osabo Osagede Emmanuel was sworn-in as the judge of the customary court of appeal.
