The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Musa Ahmed Mohammed has said that the state legislature has done a lot to improve the living standard of the people of the state, by passing bills that would touch on the lives of the people.

Alhaji Mohammed who was speaking at the end of the first session of the Assembly also said that the members where trained to improve on their legislative work and over sight functions.

According to him, an orientation workshop was conducted by the National Assembly in Bauchi, while back home an in-house training was conducted for members and staff.

Similarly, he said members and staff attended several conferences and seminars both within and outside the country.

The Speaker disclosed that so far the House has received 16 executive bills, adding that the House has passed 13 of them, while 29 resolutions have also been passed.

He said other bills including 18 private ones were at various stages of passage, pointing out that as soon as they successfully go through the due process, they will be passed.

Alhaji Mohammed charged the members to continue to take their responsibilities very seriously so that at the end of it all, the entire members of the Assembly would justify the confidence the electorate reposed on them.

He said he was greatly humbled by the support, cooperation and loyalty which he has received from all the members.

The Speaker said the relationship between the legislature and the executive has been very excellent, hoping that this spirit of cooperation will continue for the rest of their tenure so that collectively they will lead Nasarawa state to the promised land.

On the damaged chambers of the Assembly, the speaker called on the state government to release funds for its repairs and furnishing.

He also commended the staff of the House for their loyalty and dedication to duty.
