Zamfara distributes computers to journalists

The Zamfara state government has donated 24 brand new Compaq computers to each member of the correspondents chapel to enable them discharge their functions easily and diligently.
Distributing the computers to the beneficiaries last week the state, governor, Alhaji Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi who was represented by the Special Adviser, in charge of the governor’s office, Alhaji Aliyu Tukur E.S, described the gesture accorded to the members of the correspondents chapel in the state as an effort towards boosting information dissemination regarding the state government policies and programmes.
Governor Shinkafi further described journalists in the state as friends noting that the state government was ever ready to accept any constructive criticisms that were based on facts and well balanced “which will draw the attention of government to take urgent measures to move the state forward.”
He then appealed to journalists in the state to avoid making false reports saying all the doors of government functionaries are always open for journalists to verify their reports before going to the press.
In a vote of thanks, the spokesman of the correspondents chapel in the state, Malam Shehu Abubakar of the Daily Trust newspaper, thanked the Zamfara state government for the kind gesture accorded to the correspondents in the state.
Also speaking, the state editor of Thisday newspapers in Zamfara state, Malam Dalhatu Imam commended the governor, Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi for the concern shown to the correspondents by providing the computers to them to ease sending their reports adding that the correspondents in the state will continue to ensure that their reports were balanced.
Also commenting during the distribution of the computer units, the state police commissioner, Alhaji Muhammad J. Abubakar urged journalists in the state to desist from making sensational reports.
