The Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa state’s university Keffi, (NSUK), Professor Adamu Baike has pledged to maintain the good name of the institution in terms of academic standards and discipline.

Speaking with newsmen in Keffi during the presentation of cash assistance by a member of the House of Representatives Hon. Ahmed Aliyu Danyaya Wadada in the university recently, Professor Baike said that the university was determined to preserve its hard earned name and image in all ramifications.

According to him, the university had made considerable efforts in the areas of academic excellence and activities, by employing quality lecturers and other staff saying that the university has over 200 lecturers out of which over 20 are professors in various disciplines.

On the issue of students discipline and conduct Professor Baike stated that the university has taken serious steps to reduce cases of cultism, indecent dressing, examination malpractices among others.

He stressed that such measures have helped tremendously in creating conducive atmosphere for academic activities in the institution saying that the measures have also re-assured the people of the institution’s determination to make it a centre of excellence.

The vice chancellor further said that the institution was having over eight thousand students with about 95 per cent of them being Nasarawa state indigenes.

Professor Baike who was full of praises for the Nasarawa State Government, local government councils in the state, and Education Trust Fund (ETF) for their financial and moral support to the university urged them to continue with the good gesture.

He then thanked Hon. Wadada for being the first to redeem his pledge to the university, describing such gesture as a source of encouragement and urged him to continue with the spirit.

Professor Baike also commended the staff of the university for their collective support and encouragement adding that such has contributed to the general peace and success of the young but great institution.
