A Nasarawa state indigene, Mr. Akabe Joseph who hails from Doma Local Government Area has done the state proud at the Seventeenth Convocation of the School of Biblical Studies Jos, held recently, as he came atop of his colleagues with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.61 (CGPA) to bag a four-year Bachelor of Art Degree in Biblical Studies.

The dean of the school, Mr. Tom Udoh Tom Ekpot, while presenting the graduating students to the President/Rector of the school for certification was full of praises for Mr. Akabe for achieving this feat.

In his remark, the rector of the institution, Dr. Solomon I. Aguh charged the graduands to be good ambassadors of the school, adding that the school has produced outstanding ministers of the gospel in various parts of the country, Africa and beyond especially in Ghana, Guinea, Chad, Cameroon, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Niger Republic and Bangladesh.

The commencement address was delivered by a Visiting Professor from Freed-Hardeman University USA, Dr. Earl Edwards.

In his speech as a valedictorian of the year, Mr. Akabe Joseph thanked the faculty and staff of the school for their tireless effort in training him and his colleagues.

Speaking to Nigerian Newsday, on his future plan, Mr. Akabe said, “being a science student while in secondary school, I hope to secure admission into the University of Jos to study medicine and surgery. I sat for the JAMB 2008/2009 which was written few weeks back.”

In a related development, Barrister P. S. Egure, and Professor Earl Edwards of Freed Hardeman University, USA were honored by the school for their immeasurable contributions toward the development of the institution.

Presenting the awards, the director of development of the School, Mr. Steve S. Worley expressed appreciation to them for their priceless contributions towards the advancement of education in Nigeria. The event was witnessed by dignitaries from within and outside the country.
