Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Nasarawa State chapter, Very Reverend Jerry S. Modibo, has lamented the problems of Nigeria and said the problems have persisted because those elected to represent their people were corrupt and guilty of mal-administration.

He said that this has accounted for the rating of Nigeria as one 0f the must corrupt countries in the world.

The CAN chairman was speaking recently at the dedication of a Campus Cathedral built by the Chapel of Redemption, College of Education, Akwanga.

Reverend Madibo lamented that Christians who supposed to show good examples and live a blameless life at all times were the ones being accused of corrupt practices, a situation, he said, has tarnished the image of the country before the international community.

He said, according to website, Nigeria has the highest number of clergymen in the world and added that churches were on the streets, yet sins were on the increase.

The clergyman said until Nigerians looked up to God, no one could provide lasting solutions to Nigeria’s problems and charged Christians to rededicate themselves to the service of God and humanity so as to grow in all aspects of life.

Reverend Modibo who spoke on the topic “Dedicating your heart to God as temple”, said “what God desires from one’s life is the heart” and called on Christians to live holy and pure life.

He expressed dismay over the attitude of some Christians who hide their identity and called on the people to obey the principles and teachings of their faith instead of seeking recognition, knowledge and unprofitable things that would only perish here on earth.

Earlier in his address, the chairman, Chapel of Redemption, College of Education, Akwanga, Mr. Joshua Maro, thanked all those who contributed in one way or the other for the successful completion of the chapel.

Mr. Maro said the dedication of the chapel would transform the staff and students of the college to be purposeful.

In his remark, the chaplain of the chapel, Reverend Emmanuel J. Mu’azu, described students of the college as inspiring and wonderful people of God.

Reverend Mu’azu called on Christians to be responsible and committed in whatever they find themselves doing and to avoid hypocritical act that would deny them God’s favour.

The dedication of the six year project worth N9,302,630.00, which has a seating capacity of over three thousand, five hundred people was graced by people from within and outside the state.

Highlights of the occasion was the dedication of the chapel, special prayers and songs ministration.
