Speaker calls on Modibbo to compensate farmers

The speaker of Kuje Legislative arm of the Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Honourable Abdullahi D. Galadima, has urged the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Aliyu Modibbo Umar, to compensate Kuje indigenes whose farmlands were taken over by the government.
Honourable Galadima, who made the disclosure while briefing newsmen during the celebration of one year of his administration in office recently, pointed out that the affected farmers are now facing a lot of difficulties as most of can hardly take care of their families.
He said that his administration would continue to fight for the welfare of indigenes of Kuje and its environs, adding that his leadership would remain committed to the transformation of the lives of his people particular the rural dwellers.
He said he would continue to work hand in hand with the executive arm of the area council to execute people-oriented projects in the area.
The lawmaker commended the present administration of the council under the leadership of Honourable Danladi Etsu Zhin, which according to him, has executed developmental projects, which included construction of town hall, electrification of Shetuko village and the extension of electricity from Airport to Kuje town, among others.
He disclosed that the leadership of Kuje legislative arm of the council has passed a good number of bills which have impacted positively on the lives of the people of the area.
The legislator revealed that the legislative arm has given approval for the construction of new primary healthcare centres in Kafoddami and Gaube, adding that the council is undertaking the reconstruction of Kujekwa bridge.
He stated that his administration has enacted a by-law, which established scholarship scheme in the area council in order to encourage the less-privileged children to have access to education in the area, said that about three primary schools were built in Tukpechi, Sundaba and Kuchiako villages.
Honourable Galadima used the occasion to appeal to the political opponents to join hands with the present administration of Kuje Area Council in order to move the entire Kuje and its environs to greater heights.
