The Nasarawa State Governorship Election Tribunal today returned Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma as the elected Governor of Nasarawa State. Giving judgement today in Lafia, the tribunal dismissed the case filed by the defeated ANPP candidate, Solomon Ewuga, for lack of merit.

It will be recalled that the ANPP went to the tribunal to contest the victory of Governor Akwe Doma at the April 15, 2007 polls. The case which lasted 8 months was finally decided today in favour of the Governor.

The tribunal said that the case of the ANPP could not be proved as they relied on electoral wards instead of polling booths. The tribunal said that the ANPP was also confused as to which register was used for the election as they sometimes said the electronic register was used and in some same, the manual one. This, the tribunal said dealt a deadly blow on the case of the ANPP and so dismissed the case for lack of merit.

Meanwhile, Governor Akwe Doma, in a broadcast to the people of the state, extended his hands of fellowship to Barrister Solomon Ewuga and urged him to join in the development of the state.

The State capital and Government House, Lafia has been agog since the delivery of the judgement.
